2024 // Our Year in Review

It is so hard to believe that another year has come and gone! I love how the end of the year provides an opportunity to reflect back on the ups and downs of the year along with time to prepare for what lies ahead. On a personal note, 2024 brought more milestone celebrations than I ever could imagine in a single year - my sister-in-law’s wedding (which I was lucky enough to officiate), Tyler’s 40th Birthday, the twin’s 5th birthdays, my 40th, our 15-year wedding anniversary and milestone birthdays and anniversaries for our parents. Phew….it was A LOT of celebrating!!

Of course, no year passes without loss, setbacks and challenges. Walking through these moments with a supportive family and team at TBM has me feeling infinitely grateful for the relationships I hold close. I hope your year had more special moments than setbacks and that you have a (big) spark of excitement for what 2025 holds.

For The Baer Minimalist, there are so many special moments to highlight from 2024. A few of our favorites are:

Growing Our Team

I’m forever grateful to those that join me on-site and those that help keep things running behind the scenes for TBM to thrive! Amanda, Kelly, Christie, Amber, Karynn, Christina and Jessica - thank you! Our team comes to each session energized to make a difference and I think it really shows. We continue to collaborate and lean on each other to problem solve in tricky spaces - it is remarkable the difference that we can make in a single session by working together!

We also had a fabulous summer intern, Jolie, who helped us launch our LTK storefront this year and did incredible work driving internal organizing projects across the finish line (that had taken a back seat for way too long).

Organizing Countless Spaces for New and Old Clients

We had the privilege to work with so many new and existing clients in 2024, transforming crowded rooms into organized + stylized spaces. Every session brings its own set of unique challenges (if they didn’t, we wouldn’t have a business), but we always manage to figure out a way to make our client’s spaces function better than they did before.

How about a glimpse at a couple of projects from the past year:

Giving Back to Many Deserving Charities

We delivered countless carloads of clients donations across the city utilizing our Donation Guide and for that I must say, THANK YOU! There is always someone who can benefit from those items you just aren’t that into and it is so nice to be able to offer this service to clients.

Through our referral program, we were also able to make monetary donations to both Indy Reads and the Indiana Food Bank. I had the opportunity to fundraise for the Habitat for Humanity Women Build, and as a family we were able to do multiple service projects with Seeds of Caring and loved having the ability to keep up our Operation Christmas Child tradition this winter. Giving back, and instilling this foundational value with my kids, is so important to serving future generations.

Being Highlighted in the Pages of Indianapolis Monthly

Indianapolis Monthly featured The Baer Minimalist’s headquarters (aka, my home office) in their September Issue. While organizing is our bread and butter, it is no secret that I love design. And wallpaper. And bold paint. It was such a pinch me moment to have an opportunity to invite their team in - and to see a space that I love being highlighted in the pages of a magazine I devour each month.

Showcasing Our Love of Design through the St. Margaret’s Guild Decorators’ Showhouse and Gardens

We had the opportunity to share our work in THREE spaces during this year’s St. Margaret’s Guild Decorators’ Showhouse (see the full reveal here). We elevated the pantry, linen closet and guest bedroom into closets that were begging to have the doors left open.

I am so grateful to the companies who provided in-kind sponsorships for these spaces including Erin Moore with California Closets, Sherwin Williams, Southern Sky Photography, CertaPro Painters, Parkside Linen, Lalalinen, ExactMats and Tasteful Times.

Organizing Our Way Through Home-A- Rama

As if the Decorators’ Showhouse wasn’t enough, we had the chance to organize in two of the BAGI Home-A-Rama houses this year. Joining forces with Erin Moore with California Closets and Laura Walters from Style Riot, we decked out the Wedgewood Home’s primary closet. We strived to showcase the impact that our Luxe Edit service offering can have both from a curated wardrobe to stunning organizing product that can shine in a beautifully designed home.

Hilari Goris with G&G Homes invited us to showcase what we do in the back kitchen/pantry of their home. The results were so functional and yet, visually stunning, and I learned a thing or two about having real, edible snacks in a pantry. Sneaky hands are not shy! :)

Hosting Two Fabulous Community Events

Throughout the year, we had the chance to come together with fabulous partners to host two special events. First up, Cocktails, Canapes and Conversation with Tiffany Skilling Interiors and Style Riot. We gabbed about sustainability as it pertains to each of our industries and also shared our founder stories, finding similarities in each of our paths to entrepreneurship. Guests were invited to bring donations for Dress for Success, which led us to donate a full carload of professional attire to DfS Indianapolis.

Second up was a beautiful kick-off to the holiday season with Indy Maven and Colleen Hungerford with The Maverick Group. With Foundry 317 as the most festive backdrop, we shared ideas for making the holiday season less stressful. And I must say, I really let my own advice sink in as I prepared our family’s calendar this Christmas season.

Retreats with my Organizing Besties to Propel Our Businesses Forward

And how could I forget the organizers who have grown into such incredible friends over the years. We carve out time once or twice a year to gather together, diving into the current challenges, celebrating successes and truly cheering one another on as we navigate owning businesses in the organizing field. I am so lucky to have met these wonderful women and can’t imagine entering into Year 8 of entrepreneurship without them!

Phew…what. a. year. We could not have done it without your support. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t realize how lucky I am to do something I absolutely love! And for that, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

The Baer Minimalist helps busy families create ORGANIZED + STYLIZED spaces throughout Indianapolis. We can’t wait to see what 2025 holds for our team and the client’s who trust us to reimagine the systems in their homes.
